HOW CAN YOU HELP ?
We believe that learning happens all the time in all places. We know that families are busy outside of school hours and do not want to burden you with reems of 'homework'. We also want learners to be able to practice what they are learning at school, and share their learning with you.
Our classroom teachers have provided these Home Learning Task Boards that can be used to support our learners at home. There is no requirement for the work to be completed and the tasks do not need to be shown to teachers / kaiako. The Task Boards will be updated termly.
Home Learning Task Boards
Home Learning Tasks Boards are created by teachers for the ākonga / learners in their year groups. These are sent out via Hero and for our senior learners, also posted on their Google classrooms.
Home learning is not checked or marked by teachers - However it does provide further learning opportunities for children. Please encourage your child to do what interests them.
Choice Boards are updated termly.
Looking for other ideas on how you can help your child at home?
It is important to support children's development by allowing them to take responsibility for their belongings and grow their independence. Some out of school activities that we would recommend are:
Cleaning their room and making their bed
Helping with baking, dinner preparation and packing their own lunch
Going for walks in the local area
Playing on a sports team
Being creative
Helping others, such as charities or donating unwanted goods
These practical guides are a great starting point that let you know what you can do to support your child at home.
